To smoke, or not to smoke? That’s the question I’m faced with today. Tomorrow, May 31st, is “World No Tobacco Day.” Now, I’m a firm believer that cigarette smoke is nasty. Even if you smoke, you probably agree with me, right? Well, as much as I would love to see the world quit smoking, it’s not reality. It’s just not probable. Like on earth day, how the media asked everyone to turn off their power for a whole hour. Sure, some people did it. But in reality, how many people could do that once a day? How many people could live without something that they have lived with just about their whole life?

I’m not sure if they’re doing this to help the atmosphere, our health, or just to have some kind of involvement in trying to change the world. Either way, I’m still stuck with the question. Should I smoke hookah on “World No Tobacco Day?” Or, should I observe the holiday and try to “Help save the world?”

What are you going to do tomorrow? Are you going to not smoke, only because you’re asked not to? How do you feel about WHO’s actions to try to get the world to quit smoking?

Okay, so we don’t all get off on the right foot. But that’s what I’m here for, right? Today I’m explaining how to generally set up your hookah, poke your foil, and a few other tips.

I cut the video kinda short – due to the length. All the ending had in it was basically that you can use several different fillers, but I don’t recommend pure juice fillers. They tend to bubble up a lot and clog your hoses, right along with milk fillers.

I really hate to sound repetitious when I say this, but I honestly believe that Hydro is by far the best herbal shisha out there. A few of the perks I love about Hydro are:

[1] Hydro is 100% Nicotine, tar, and tobacco free.
[2] The handy ziplock bags that the herbal shisha comes in, that’s inside of a really nice looking box.
[3] The smell of the shisha, and the flavor. They’re both completely tantalizing, making you practically drool on yourself until your next hit on the hookah.

    The cons:
[1] The shisha doesn’t seem to last as long as tobacco shisha.
[2] They only come in 50g boxes.

The flavor that I’m reviewing today is Hydro – Blue Viper [ Blueberry ]

    First thougts:
Of course, you know what i’m going to say by now. The smell of the shisha even before even opening the box could be considered tormenting. It’s like smelling your favorite desert, fresh out of the oven or freezer, and then finding out it was only an air freshener.

    Apparatus:
    Bowl: Blue Phunnel bowl
    Hose: Black Nammor hose
    Hookah: KM [we think?]
    Coals: Some Japanese natural coals
    Filler: Ice water

Cut: Red dye, bunch of sticks, and evenly flavored.

    Experience:

Myself: The flavor to me tasted like blueberry muffins.. But more blueberry to me. Or even more like blueberry cream.. I think what I’m getting at, is that it wasn’t exactly dead on blueberry. It didn’t seem to hit the spot, as I was hoping it would. [fantasia!!] Regardless, I wasn’t let down. It is still a great flavor to me.

The fanclub: Both Jaime and my mom believed there to be a licorice-y aftertaste. They’re not talking about the way the smoke tastes when you blow it out, but after that when you take that first swallow. Overall, they both really enjoyed the flavor and agreed that they would smoke it again.
    Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ [7/10]

    Smoke:
The smoke started out really thick. About 5 minutes later, one of the coals broke in half and I guess somehow it burnt the shisha. That resulted in us pulling off one of the coals, and losing a lot of smoke.
    Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥♥.5 [6.5 / 10]

    About the video:
This was my Mom’s first time smoking an herbal shisha. She didn’t want to be on video, but I made her. So, I’m really sorry for anything that might not need to be in there, but this was a random spur of the moment video.. And you can probably tell.

As I explained in my original Hydro review, Hyrdo [ in my opinion ] is probably the best herbal shisha that is on the market today. It’s made right here in America, with premium herbs from another country. Hydro is first packaged in ziplock bags, then again in a convenient sized cardboard box. The smell of the shisha penetrates right through the bag and box, leaving you drooling on yourself before you even get a chance to smoke it.

    Hydro – Red Lightning.

    Flavor: Strawberry.

    First Thoughts:
Opening the bag, you get a really really sweet strawberry smell. Almost like strawberry shortcake topping. Again, the smell is extremely strong, which I believe is a great quality in a shisha.

Cut: Dyed red. Looks like hundreds of small sticks. Very nature-like.

    Hydro - Red Lightning

Flavor: Have you ever went to the bank or doctor and get those little lollipops, wrapped in plastic? This tastes just like one of those. Extremely sweet, and partially fruity. Definitely strawberry though. 6/10

Smoke: Not as good as the last few times we’ve smoked Hydro. Still impressed for it being an herbal shisha. 6/10

Herbal might always mean the same, but it doesn’t exactly always have to taste the same. I guess we realized this when we were trying out one of the newest herbal shisha’s on the market, Hydro. The name doesn’t exactly explain the product too well, so I’ll take the liberty of doing that myself.

Hydro herbal shisha is tobacco free, nicotine free, and also free of all other additives that most shisha’s have to offer. It’s made right here in the US, with premium herbs from another country. Hydro carries around 19 separate flavors, ranging from pineapple, to rose, an even to coffee! They only come in 50 gram boxes, but they are extremely cheap.

    Hydro – Electric X

    First thoughts:
When I first opened the box, the smell was really intense. It was a really sweet fruity smell. The smell made me have really high standards for the shisha, even knowing that most herbal shisha’s aren’t exactly premium if you know what I mean. Packing the bowl, I was practically drooling on myself.

Cut: Herby. It looks like a bunch of small sticks soaked in molasses for a while, and dyed red.

    Hydro – Electric X Review

Flavor: The flavor was surprisingly not like the smell. It wasn’t nearly as fruity or sugary as I thought it to be. Regardless, it had the right mix of both the sugar and the fruit, thank goodness. Overall, I was highly impressed with Hydro. I would rate it a 7/10.

Smoke: I would give the smoke a 8/10. It impressed me more than the flavor did. There was about as much smoke as most other brands, if not more.

On weekend nights at this Cafe, you might want to get there early. Starting around nine at night, you can have up to a two hour wait to get into a local hookah lounge, The Casbah Cafe. While they have seating both inside and out, the wait times are tedious and often people leave before being seated. However, they do have a bar, so you can go get yourself a drink and return to your friends waiting outside of the gate for you.

The interior of the Casbah Cafe is very traditional, but also pretty cramped. There are two sections, one is what you see when you first walk in. That section is full of tables and chairs, like a restaurant. The second section is off to your left, with row benches, ottomans, stools, and tables. None of which were too comfortable. The stools were completely hard, no cushion whatsoever. The tables were wobbly, and felt unstable. Besides those flaws, the cafe had a very comfortable atmosphere.

Dining was immaculate. The server had no problems taking our orders, which were very inexpensive considering the quality and quantity of the meal. Me and my partner had a combo, which let us taste a little bit of a lot, for a very minimal price. Some of the things we were able to try were Lamb, Swordfish, hummus, pickled eggplant, and some kind of fried cheese. The lamb was completely tender. We were able to tear it into pieces with just our forks, and it had just the right flavoring. While this was our first time trying swordfish, I was completely dumbfounded by the deliciousness of the fish. Seasoned to perfection, and obviously fresh. As for the other À la carte’s, they were no lower in standards than the main dish. The eggplant was nothing less than mouthwatering, while the hummus and cheese were neutral flavored. Overall, the dining was immeasurably the best part of the experience.

Our friends have told us about The Casbah Cafe’s soothing “Citrus Bowl.” It’s a house blend of orange, lemon, and cherry I believe. While the flavor was really interesting, the smoke kept getting harsh. The server didn’t check up on the hookah, at all. We had to use our kabob sticks to move around the coals ourselves, which is apparently a “No No.” The lack of upkeep on our hookah made us feel like the waiter was too busy to handle us, even though we rarely seen him unless he was over by our tables. As for the hookah experience, I would say it was a mid grade experience. I’ve smoked there before, and will more than likely continue to smoke there.

The Casbah Cafe is called a cabaret because of the belly dancers there on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The women are beautiful, and look very experienced. While they are dancing, the music is turned up pretty loud, and it feels like they’re trying to drown out some of the talking. Besides that, the belly dancing is a pretty unique experience, if you’ve never witnessed it before.

In quality, overall, I would give the cafe a 9/10. It’s by far the best hookah lounge in Jacksonville, not only because of it’s hookah smoking, but also because of the location. The lounge is definitely something I would recommend to tourists and locals alike.
